"After depositing myself about one-and-a-half pitches up on the 5.7 Cascading Crystal Kaleidoscope route of New York's Shawangunk Mountains, my heels were perched on a narrow blade of rock with my toes dangling in the air. I had been hoping to bump into preeminent Gunks guide Ivan Greene, who had been climbing above us. Then Ivan just "dropped in" on us for this photo."
