Mountain Skills Climbing Guides is a fully-insured, AMGA accredited rock and ice climbing service based in New York's Shawangunk and Catskill Mountains, affectionately known to climbers as "The Gunks". Mountain Skills Climbing Guides was created to help aspiring climbers learn how to climb confidently and efficiently while fostering a sense of awareness about the natural environments climbers visit.

Whether you are looking for a guide service to provide you with an introduction to the vertical environment, or you are an experienced climber looking to hone your skills and pick up a few more, we have an instructor for you. Our guides are highly experienced professionals licensed by New York State. We have climbed extensively throughout North America as well as in some of the finest crags around the world. Rock and ice climbing is our passion, and we bring our experience and enthusiasm to every client each day. We pride ourselves on having a staff that is sensitive to your needs, we teach with patience, and never forget that your comfort is our number one priority.

Typical Day

We meet at Rock and Snow, which is the local rock climbing store, at 9:00am to get the gear we need and go over the release waivers. You are usually climbing until 4-5pm.

Rates

Starting trip for single climber is $250 per day. Two climbers is $170 each, three climbers is $150 each, and four climbers is $125 each. This also includes your day fee at the Mohonk Preserve. Adding more partners for the day brings the overall price for each climber down.
